Privacy Policy

GoWeather shows you the weather where you are, and anywhere else you have looked up. That needs to know where you are. This policy describes what happens to that, and to everything else the app holds. It is short, because the app does very little with it.
Where the forecast comes from
Forecasts come from Google's Weather API through a small caching service that GoApps runs on Cloudflare. Before any request leaves your phone your coordinates are rounded to a roughly five-kilometre grid, so a tile — a town, not an address — is all the cache or Google ever receives. The cache keeps only that tile's forecast, briefly, with no accounts, identifiers or record of who asked. Google handles what it receives under Google's privacy policy.
Where you are
GoWeather asks iOS for your location only to the nearest kilometre — it never requests the precise fix, because a forecast a hundred metres away is the same forecast.
It is used for two things. The weather, which is fetched for the rounded tile described above. And naming the place, so the screen can say where you are — that name comes from Apple's geocoder, which does receive the unrounded location in order to answer, under Apple's privacy policy. It is the one place a finer position is used, and it goes to Apple rather than to GoApps or Google.
You can refuse or withdraw the permission at any time in iOS Settings. GoWeather still works — it simply shows the places you add yourself.
What GoWeather stores
- On your device: the places you have saved, your units, clock and appearance settings, and the most recent forecast, so the app has something to show before the network answers.
- In your own iCloud, when you are signed in: the saved places and those same settings, so a reinstall or a second device picks up where you left off. That is your private iCloud storage, governed by Apple's privacy policy. GoApps has no access to it and cannot see what is there.
There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. Deleting the app removes what is on the device; turning off iCloud for GoWeather, or deleting its iCloud data in iOS Settings, removes the rest.
Searching for a place
When you type a place name, the suggestions come from Apple's own search. What you type goes to Apple and is handled under Apple's privacy policy. It does not go to GoApps, and it does not go to Google.
Tracking and analytics
There are none. GoWeather contains no analytics, no advertising, no advertising identifier, no third-party SDKs and no tracking of any kind. Nothing it holds is sold, and nothing is used to build a profile of you.
Children
GoWeather is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the current version is always the one published here.
